Giraffe on my nails!

I have never seen a giraffe in real life before. Not that I fancy giraffe much but I do find giraffe's skin pattern interesting. That coming from a person who loves any shades of brown :)

So yeah, I decided to do giraffe skin patten on me nails for this week FF.

I wanted to use the brown polish that I'm holding to draw the brown patches. But it dries very quick and so painting gets difficult. I don't have dark brown acrylic paint as well but much thanks to Art class, I was able to get dark brown color by mixing red, yellow and blue. But I did the mixing separately for each nail. Hence, the different shade of brown. Still, I feel satisfied about it.

Green Ikat inspired nail art

I made another Ikat inspired for my FF: Ikat Inspired theme. I wanted a darker background and also wanted to try the new shade of OPI green I bought recently.

I love this green shade Don't Mess with OPI. And it's creme finish and I just love creme finish polish.

Below are the ikat nail art in green I made. I think I went too much with black on the ring finger and it doesn't look so naturally ikat. In fact, my right nails are much better done than this. Ha!

I purposely left two nails unpainted cos I prefer to show off the beauty of this base color. ^_^

Vertical Gradient Blue

Earlier this year, a friend went to the US and I requested her help to buy my the OPI Nicki Minaj Spring 2012 collection. It's cheaper buying directly from OPI's hometown.

But I haven't got the chance to try out all the swatches. Today, I'm gonna start with OPI Fly.

The color looks more turquoise in real life and I'm loving it.

I realized how I love cream finish nail polish since using OPI Fly as well as OPI Did It On 'Em. Will try to look more of cream finish nail polishes soon.

Since I'm into gradient lately, I wanted to re-create Nailsaurus' nail art but with a slight tweak.

So what I did was using sponging technique to create gradient. I even used her tutorial on creating beautiful gradient effect via sponging. Love it! Love it!

Initially I wanted to 'bling-bling' all my nails. But remembering that I only wear this nail art until Sunday, I decided not. Save me my nail studs. ^_^

The thing about sponging vertically, the nail bed tend to be flooded with nail polishes and it's kinda hard for me to clean them even with brush. Note to self, vertical sponging; not cleaning-friendly.

Colors Used:
OPI Fly Nicki Minaj Spring 2012 collection as base
Revlon Midnight Affair
Sally Hansen Black Out
Studs from local store.

Next week, will try to do Galaxy Nails. It's been wanting to try that particular mani.

Till then!

Mermaid nails

I have been very active in Instagram lately. And I just found out ways to explore more nail art enthusiasts via Instagram community. It is so much fun and quick, I think I am hooked to clicking each beautiful photo!

Anyways, an Instagram friend suggested that I enter this one contest on Instagram organized by @nic_thcelly. The contest theme is Mermaid Theme and is still running till July 1st. I even have to open up my Instagram for public viewing and wow, my nail photos have sure gained a little instant fame. LOL!

So here are the nail art I submitted for the contest. I did gradient blue representing the deep ocean and drew scallop shape on the ring and thumb nails as accent nails representing fish scales. I had fun doing this nail art and so I submitted my entry for the fun of it.

Tribal in Pink

Wow, it has been quite a while since I last updated here. Haven't been doing much nail art lately due to work. Even when I did have time to do it, I didn't manage to make a proper post for them nails. Just snap some photos of them and got away with it.

Here are some of them by the way...

Gradient pink with faux pearl...my nails I wore for a magazine anniversary party in April.

Black over Red for a chic rock effect.

Gradient gold over Black. My nails for the Harvest Festival celebration end of last May.

And here's a proper post for today's nail art.
tribal pink2

I've been wanting to do tribal design again but always ended up stressing out on what color combo to use. As I was ransacking my nail colors, I realized that my OPI Nicki Minaj collection bought in January has not been really tested out. So yeah, tribal pink it is...with of course, the mandatory of black and white.

tribal pink
Still have to practice more on doing free-hand painting the lines.

Colors used:
OPI Pink Friday as base.
Black and white acrylic paint to draw the tribal design.

Next up, will be my nail art for Zumba Green Party this coming Friday. I am e.x.c.i.t.e.d!!!!
